OT Blogs

May 7, 2007

Have just got back from the conference I mentioned in my last post and it has really got me thinking…..though I will save my wonderful thoughts for my next post as right now I am sitting in a web 2.0 tools class (see Merrolee’s site for further info on this class) and have been searching for Occupational Therapy Blogs (besides those of my fellow class members!). The first blog site I came across was Will’s which I spent ages navigating around reading his interesting and thought provoking posts and opinions on OT. Definately a must visit! Other sites I have found are Patti’s (who is a ‘soon-to-be OT graduate’ and uses her site to share her thoughts and experience on the road to becoming an Occupational Therapist) and Aishel’s (a new grad OT also using her site to share information, knowledge and her experiences of entering the workforce).

So to all those occupational therapists out there who are using blogs as a tool to reflect and share your knowledge….keep it up – we can never get our profession ”out there’ enough! And to those of you who aren’t into the blogging thing yet….try it out!

So check these out……I’ll post more as I find them (let me know if you come across any blogs you recommend!)

  1. Thanks so much for posting on my blog! I’m so excited to see other OT blogs out there. It’s so incredible that perspective students, current students, therapists and educators can spread information throughout the world through the use of the internet and blogs in particular. It’s going to be cool to see how this is all used in the OT world…

  2. Heya! I found you through Patti’s blog. Patti and I have been friends online since we were 13 years old! I have an OT blog as well at otstudents.blogspot.com. This is a bad week for me with tons of work, but next week I plan to update my blog w/ some of the recent links I have found, so that includes yours. Hope you have a great week.

  5. We are occupational therapists who work in a school setting, promoting school function and participation through blogging. We probably do less “reflecting” and more promoting. Anyway, blogs can fit many purposes. Take a look at Thriving in School at http://hosmerot.blogspot.com/

  6. Hey! I found your blog through google and will be adding it to my feeds collection. Keep up the good work!

  7. Hi there!
I’ve been posting extensively on chronic pain management from a biopsychosocial perspective, but primarily enlarging on the psychosocial aspects of pain management. My background is occupational therapy with a hefty dose of psychology, and I work both as a clinician and educator in pain and pain management.
It would be great if you’d consider including me on your blogroll.
    cheers

  8. Hello’

As a Masters of Occupational Therapy student, I am undertaking a project exploring benefits and application of Yoga for post stroke clients. There is lot of research supporting the benefits of applying Yoga for various disabilities but there seems to be lack of literature on how to adapt Yoga for post stroke clients. I wish to evoke a discussion on how yoga is being adapted and applied with stroke clients and with what therapeutic gains.

I invite your participation in the discussion about Yoga and stroke at my blogsite, http://strokeofyoga.blogspot.com/. What is likely to emerge out of this is a real-time, practice-based information on the topic. So, please come and share your experiences, ideas, and suggestions about the topic and join in an open & healthy discussion with other like-interest practitioners.

Please share any information along the lines of what type of Yoga is used, how often, how is it adapted, which specific Yogic concepts are used, and how long it takes before the results are seen.

I project to start summarizing the blog site activities by May 15th 2009.

I sincerely appreciate your time and consideration. Your contribution is indispensable to the success of this undertaking and for future growth of knowledge in this area.

    Sincerely,

    • Hi,

  10. Hello!

Given the ever growing need for Occupational Therapists, I put together an article with a list of financial aid options for those hoping to enter the field. If you wouldn’t mind, could you share my article with your readers?

    Here’s the post:

    Many thanks!

  11. Hey,

    Thanks man !

I got lots of information about Occupational Therapy from here

    Keep Posting !

    🙂

  12. I do not think many people realize the role of an Occupational Therapist. I wish more sites like this and others existed, and perhaps more begin to see the importance. There are some great online programs available that students can attend, much like this one for Occupational Therapy Aide.
